In previous blogs, I discussed both why psychology is an excellent undergraduate degree and the colleges with the best undergraduate programs. If you do decide to study psychology in your undergraduate years, it can lead you to many different career paths. However, if you wish to specialize in psychology and work in counseling or education industries, a graduate degree may be necessary. There are many excellent graduate psychology programs, but the following are the top-rated universities in the United States.
Fordham University – Bronx, NY
As a Fordham alumnus, I highly recommend and support the university. Fordham’s programs allow students to learn both in and out of the classroom. Their program enables students to help New York and gain real-world experience. The university offers both Ph.D. and Master programs in a variety of fields, including clinical psychology and applied developmental psychology.
Yale University – New Haven, CT
While I received my master’s and doctorate at Fordham, I did attend Yale University for my psychology undergraduate degree. Yale is another excellent university that I support. Yale’s program is great for those who wish to work in research because the college trains their students to conduct cutting-edge studies.
Stanford University – Stanford, CA
Stanford University is another school that has a top-rated psychology graduate program. Their program focuses on two aspects: learning technical information and practicing with investigation and studies. Stanford offers their students highly rated classes from exceptional professors as well as the opportunity to use their knowledge in the real world.
University of Michigan: Ann Arbor – Ann Arbor, MI
A great reason to consider the University of Michigan for your psychology graduate degree is that the school offers six different programs. In addition, the university offers three join programs of study as well as five other affiliated programs.
University of Texas: Austin – Austin, TX
The University of Texas’ psychology degree specializes in preparing students for careers in research and teaching. Students who attend the University of Austin for a psychology graduate degree will gain a better understanding of seven different areas including developmental psychology and Perceptual Systems.
A graduate degree in psychology may be necessary for those who wish to specialize in a particular focus or who want further develop their skills. While there are many outstanding graduate psychology programs, these five are highly rated.
